The petition supporters that are against the inhumane slaughter of the Catalina Island mule deer have collectively reached over 87,000 signatures, with this figure steadily increasing each day. The growing support is a clear reflection of the deeply concerning nature of this situation.

The prospect of thousands of bullets descending from the skies above Catalina Island for the sole purpose of eradicating an entire species is indeed disturbing. The actions are based on inconclusive science, further compounded by the absence of meaningful public engagement in the decision-making process.

It underscores the urgent need for a comprehensive reevaluation of the approach being taken, with a focus on seeking solutions that prioritize compassion, ethical considerations, and the voice of our community here on the island.
